Quarter Final 3 : Australia vs. Pakistan : Match Report

The third quarter final of the 2015 World Cup ended as Pakistan were knocked out of the World Cup. The game was always more towards Australian side as Pakistan look an unstable side while the mighty Australians have a perfect mix of all-rounders and more importantly "MATCH WINNERS" which every team is looking to get in their side. With the Maxwell's and the Faulkner's , they can pull out a game from the opponent's hands. But the other day , they were not under pressure.

Pakistan batting first , were not quite able to post a score which would justify their Quarter final presence ! With just 213 on the board they were never in the game.The Australian pace battery restricted them by bowling them out in 49.5 overs.The pace trio of Johnson-Starc-Hazlewood exhibited a spectacular show of pace bowling. The Pakistani batsmen got starts but were never able to convert it into a big score. And it all ended with 213 on the board !

The Australian batsmen came out with no pressure whatsoever. In the past they have put on big scores of 400+ and this was not at all a challenging task for them ! However they were brought down as they lost 4 quick wickets. Wahab Riaz was the only bowler who looked threatening and troubled the Australians with his short pitched and pacy deliveries. Shane Watson was having a tough time against him and Riaz was seen energetic and almost asked Watson to hit him for some runs! But , nevertheless Watson showed his experience and stayed cool and calm at the crease , battling out the tough period ! Steven Smith at the other end was showing some great touch as he played some classical off-side strokes. Both Watto and Smith steadied the Australian innings ! However Smith was then sent back by Ehsan Adil after scoring 65 crucial runs. maxwell came in and played a cameo , scoring 44 quickfire runs ! Australia comfortably knocked Pakistan out of the tournament.

MoM : Hazlewood was adjudged the man of The Match for his fine spell.
