India vs. Bangladesh: 1st Test- Day 3- Match Story

Clearly shows why matches were not scheduled during June in Bangladesh earlier! Once again, Day3 was a rain interrupted day with just 47.3 overs being played. India moved on to 462-6 after Day 2 was completely washed out. Bangladesh performed better than they did better than the last time they took the field. Here’s a summary how things went on Day 3:

Both the teams looked fresh coming in as no play took place on Day 2! India had the upperhand after their overnight score of 239-0. While on the other hand, Bangladesh started the new Day as a challenge and looked to pick early wickets and make a comeback!

A reliable opener.

First milestone of the day came when Murali Vijay got to his 6th Test ton early in the first session itself. This was one of his best compiled knocks till date. After supporting Dhawan initially, he took the task and carted the bowlers all over the park!

A job well done!

Finally, the Bangladesh bowlers got rid of destructive Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan was dismissed on a well made 173(195) by none other than Bangladesh premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. He was caught and bowled by Hasan. The brilliant knock consisted of 23 fours.

Rohit Sharma was the new man in for India. But his stay at the crease was not a long one as afte exactly 2 overs, Shakib dismissed him for just six off nine! Skipper Kohli came out to the crease to give his side a steady run as he walked in at four!

The saviour for his nation.

A competitive and long Australian tour, tiring world Cup, immediate captaincy, long IPL season clearly showed that this man was not at his best! Kohli too was sent back to the hut early by spinner Jubair Hossain, a moment to remember for the young spinner! Kohli made 14 off 22.

Murali Vijay was the next one to get out as Shakib picked up his third wicket of the day! He made 150 off 272 balls with 12 fours and a mighty six! He was caught in front by the all-rounder.

But, after losing some wickets, CEAT Indian Cricketer of the year, Ajinkya Rahane had made up his mind to gain control of things! He made a stunning 98 off just a 103 deliveries. Indian keeper Saha got out in the 100th over by Hossain on 6, Rahane too departed on 98 by shakib who picked up his fourth! A well deserved ton was missed by him!

Ravi Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh saw out the bowlers until rain inturrepted to deny any further play! India are 462/6  Stumps Day 3!

So, that was it from Day 3, do join us tomorrow for the coverage of Day 4! Take care, Cheers!
