India vs. Bangladesh: 3rd ODI -Match Story

India avoided a 'Bangla'wash by finally managing a win in the last match of the three match series with a 77-run victory over the hosts at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.

After calling it right at the toss, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza elected to field first. considering Indian performance against Mustafizur Rahman, it was a good decesion. While the squad for Bangladesh remained unchanged except for araft Sunny coming in, India brought in all-rounder Stuart Binny in the place of Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja's poor performances in the recent games lead to this.

India started on a positive note. The opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan looked steady, the former took charge this time. Scoring boundaries at regular intervals, India went on to 39 in 7 overs just when Rohit was dimissed by the hero of the series, Mustafizur Rahman. He departed for 29 at run-a-ball.

Dhawan plays one of his shots.

Kohli came in at 3, a perfect opportunity for him to score big. He built a partnership with Dhawan and kept the scoreboard ticking for India. He made a modest 25 before being bowled by Shakib Al Hasan in the 20th over of the innings.Dhawan at the other end, was scoring at will.

Will he continue to bat at number four? This question striked the minds of fans as Indian captain came out to accompany Shikhar in the middle. Doing it for the second time in the series, Dhoni looks like he wants some quality time at the crease.

He carried on the partnership with Dhawan before the latter fell toMortaza in the 27th over to Mashrafe Mortaza. He departed on a well made 75 off just 73 balls with 10 hits to the fence. His knock helped India to 158/3. Ambati Rayudu made his way to the middle ahead of Suresh Raina! After the failure in the second ODI, Rayudu was keen to prove his worth and cement a place in the team. After stitching a good partnership with MS Dhoni, Rayudu was dismissed on a well crafted  44 off 49. He rotated the strike and helped MS Dhoni score freely.

 Captain Cool in action!

Then, India's best middle order pair were at the crease in Raina and Dhoni.Their pair averages 63.9 in ODIs with more than 3500 runs between them! However, the partnership was a short lived as Dhoni was soon dismissed by Mortaza on a brilliant 69(77) with 6 fours and a mighty six.

Raina was the major run scorer in the lower middle order and tail with 38. The Indian innings ended on a competitive 317/6 after 50 overs.

Kulkarni got both the openers.

The Bangladesh innings started on a poor note as Tamim Iqbal was dismissed on just 5(8) by Indian pacer Dhawal Kulkarni. Litton Das walked in at 3. He put on a good partnership with Soumya Sarkar to take Bangladesh to 62 before the latter got out on 40. Kulkarni agian broke the partnership.

Sarkar failed to convert another good start.

Another partnership between between Mushfiqur Rahim and Das went on. They rotated strike and kept it going. Indian bowlers were bowling to save their pride. MS Dhoni brings in good changes! His decesion to give Raina the ball worked like a charm as he dismissed Rahim for 24 to keep Bangladesh in a state of turmoil. Keeper Das followed him as Axar Patel got him in the 22nd over of the innings for a decent 34(50).

Hasan came out to save the match for Bangladesh. He was getting the singles but failed to accelrate. Sabbir Rahman accompanied him. They scored 20 and 43 respectively before Raina picked Hasan and Rahman was bowled by Binny! Raina picked his second wicket.

Just when Nasir Hossain looked dangerous, Ashwin picked up his wicket Later, he also got Mashrafe Mortaza on a duck to potentially end the things for Bangladesh. The lower order did not cause much damage and eventually India won the match by 77 runs.

Man of the Match: Suresh Raina was rightly adjudged the MoM for his quickfire 38 and 3 precious wickets.
