Steyn and Johnson join the legends.

Two of the most destructive fast bowlers of the cricket history passed a dream landmark of their respective test career in the last couple of days of cricketing action. However, they are still hungry for more as they join the legends in the history book.

Dale Steyn, famously known as "The Steyn-Gun", achieved the milestone of taking 400 Test wickets, becoming the first player in the cricket history to do so under 3000 overs and in only 80 games. Also, the only the second South African to take 400 wickets after the great Shaun Pollock. Steyn got his 400th wicket in just 2786 balls, claiming a world record.

The world’s top ranked bowler brought up his milestone after dismissing Tamim Iqbal for 6 on the opening day of the second test against Bangladesh. However, this gun is not far from encountering Shaun Pollock’s record of 421 wickets.

The mighty South African was recently in a very poor form since last year in every tournament he played. His pace was too variably down by 5-6 kph. He was also left out from the T-20 side. But as we all know, everyone has a bad time. It was his turn this time. He didn’t give up, he didn’t stop bowling regularly in nets, he never stopped bowling hard to get his pace back.  We can now sense that he will be back soon with his destructive and aggressive fast bowling.

Also, after achieving this comprehensive milestone, his confidence will be fully high with the hunger to bowl hard, fast and consistently, whenever asked.

Mitchell Johnson too joined the party too. Johnson, oftenly known as the "Mitch-Monster" became just the fifth Australian bowler to take 300 wickets in Tests as he dismissed the recalled English batsman Jonny Bairstow who was averaging over 100 in the county this season.

The slingy left arm fast bowler was at 299 before the start of the 3rd Ashes test at Edgbaston. There was no success to his name on the 1st day after Australia had collapsed for cheap 136 runs.

However, he achieved his 300 mark on just the third delivery of his spell on the second day.  Two balls later, he claimed his 301st wicket after dismissing Ben Stokes. Johnson, too, was in a short bad form before awakening from inside to bring his side back in the 2nd Ashes test.
Only the King of Spin- Shane Warne and the feary fast bowlers- Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Dennis Lillee had previously taken 300 Test wickets for Australia. The monster however, registered a world record to his name for being the fastest to achieve this landmark in 69 games, defeating the Legend- Wasim Akram who did the same in 70 games.

Johnson’s career of 69 test matches hasn’t been uninterrupted progress as the 33 year old lost the control over his line and length in 2010/2011 Ashes tour. However, he did make the best comeback ever after taking 37 wickets in 2013/2014 Ashes, playing the biggest role in defeating the arch-rivals 5-0.

Johnson is anyways not far from breaking Lee’s record of 310 wickets and climbing to the 4th spot for most wickets by an Australian in Tests.
