Whether smashing the
ball out of the park or diving anytime and every time to save the ball, cricket
has been blessed with some of the most outstanding wicket keepers. Here are 5 of the greatest wicket-keepers:
1. Adam Gilchrist

Adam Gilchrist is widely regarded as the
greatest wicket-keeper batsman in the history of the game. Aussies were really
blessed to have a wicket-keeper batsman like him. He was the owner of world
record for the highest dismissals by a wicket-keeper in ODI until he was
recently surpassed by Kumar Sangakkara. He has in all 898 catches with 92
stumpings to his name. He is certainly an inspiration to many young lads.

2. Mark Boucher

The South African wicket-keeper
was pretty much unlucky when he was forced to retire after a serious eye
injury. Although in the span of 15 years, he has left a mark. He
has 979 dismissals to his name including 934 catches and 45 stumpings. He holds
the record of highest dismissals in Tests i.e. 555. Today, Mark Boucher is
regarded as the best South African wicket-keeper and also the best wicket-keeper
according to statistics.
3. Kumar Sangakkara

The captain cool is the greatest wicket
keeper of India. He is probably an ACE of all the Indian wicket keepers. He has
dismissed batsmen 625 times and has been up everytime for the team. India will
never get a wicket keeper like him, atleast in the next decade.
5. Ian Healy

Ian Healy is considered as one of the
greatest wicket keeper of the ‘Before-Gilchrist’ era. He was the best wicket
keeper of that time, fighting for it along with GJ Jones. He has 589 dismissals
to his name out of which, most of them coming from ODI (395). He certainly carried
the legacy of Rodney Marsh and then handed over to Gilchrist, who later
rejuvenated it.
These
greatest wicket keepers have become legends now. Cricket will never get wicket keepers like these. They are immortal in the books of history.
