Rampant England regain the urn

In a cracker of a game, England finally regained the urn going 3-1 up in the series! Some unusual things happened in the game. Here's an insight:

Alastair Cook elected to field first after calling it right at the toss!

Going into the game with a setback already, that of Anderson not being available for the game, English lead bowler Stuart Broad took it on him.

With a delivery that gifted Australian opener Chris Rogers his first duck in his entire Test career, Broad had displayed his intentions! He joined the '300 club' with that! The delivery that first came into Rogers left him only going to skipper Cook in the slip cordon, he had perfectly commenced things at Nottingham!

What was next?

No this ain't a binary or any other code! This is the entire Australian innings! Yes you read it right!

Broad with his destructive deliveries picked up figures of 9.3-5-15-8 in no time!

With the Autralian innings only lasting 18.3 overs they were done for 60! And the leading run scorer being 'extras' ! - the team score of 60 included 14 extras! And the next highest being 13 by Mitchell Johnson! It was a nightmare!

Next up England openers came in with huge confidence. Aussie bowlers had to prove their mettle and give their best of they wanted a result in their favor.

At the end of first day’s play, speaking to bbc.com/sport, Broad said, ‘It was one of those days you dream of. It’s been the perfect day but it starts again tomorrow. A 214-run lead after day one is probably as powerful a performance as I’ve ever seen or been involved in’.
Taking his first five wickets in 19 deliveries, Broad equalled the fastest five-wicket-haul in Test history, before recording his career-best figures.

Joe Root was dismissed by Mitchell Starc early on Day 2. The England batsman made 130.

'My previous best-ever bowling was 7-12 against Kimbolton School under-15s so it was nice to get that against Australia I must admit. I keep looking up at the scoreboard and it doesn’t look real to me. It hasn’t sunk in, but it’s a bit of a freak day, the kind you work hard for, train for. You want those days when it all works for you and today was one of those days,’ Broad told bbc.com/sports.
With the Aussies having a tough job at hand, only Starc stood up with figures of 27-2-111-6.
England riding on The back of Root- 130 off 176 deliveries and Bairstow 74(105) posted 391/9, declaring the innings.

Aussies were neede to score atleast 332 runs to make England bat again. The openers Chris Rogers and David Warner started off well and put up 111-run partnership for the first wicket.

But, after the departure of Rogers, no other batsmen could settle down and build-up useful partnerships!
If Broad caused havoc in the first innings, Ben Stokes crushed the Aussies with some classy seam bowling in the second.Except Adam Voges, who scored a patient 51 runs off 118 deliveries, no other batsman could face Stokes.

With 50 minutes to play on the morning of the third day, Aussies second innings folded up at 253 runs giving England, a victory by an innings and 78 runs.
Ben Stokes retirned with impressive figures of 21-8-36-6.

Finishing the match with 11 wickets and also crossing the 300-wicket mark in Tests, Stuart Broad was adjudged the Player of the Match.
