8 Greatest Deliveries of all time

Cricket has produced some of the greatest bowlers over the years. Every generation of bowlers, give us something to remember, some certainly leave a mark in our minds. After digging up the internet, our Head-Writer, Param Kothari, takes us through some of extra-ordinary deliveries that will remain in our memories forever. Revive the best here, only at TheCrickBlog. Here you go!

1. "Mike Gatting doesn't know what has happened to him. He still doesnt know."

Yes, these are the words of the best commentator of all time, Richie Benaud. A wicket like this on debut, how much impact does that make?. We can see the result by just taking his name, Shane Warne. The King of Spin literally spinned the ball for more than 2 feet to clean bowl England's, Mike Gatting. This delivery has made such a great encroachment on the game of cricket that it is now, famously known as "The Ball of the Century."

2. Binga makes the stump do Cartwheel!

Oh boy! What can one say about this delivery by Brett Lee. Pace certainly did the trick. Lee is often known for 'removing the stumps'.. Here is one of the best example for it. A good length straight delivery firing in at 147.5 km/hr. making the stump do 'cartwheel'. This is one of the best wickets he has ever taken. Straight delivery going totally straight, missing everything, to hit the off stump. 'You miss, I hit'.

3. T-20 Ball of the Century

Ravichandran Ashwin certainly showed everyone why he is the owner and specialist of the carrom ball. This was against South Africa, when, Amla was looking in a mood to devastate the bowlers. But that wasn’t the case until Ashwin took out his trump card, the carrom ball, to dismiss him. Amla was left in wonder as that ball pitched outside leg stump and went on to hit the off stump in a blink of an eye.

4. Golden delivery by Ryno to dismiss Cook for Golden duck.

This was for sure the best delivery of Ryan Harris career. It was a Jane McGrath Day, Melbourne was colouredl Pink and here is what Harris rewarded them with! It was a total ripper. A good length ball which looked as if it will seem and travel towards off. But it was the third day of the test and the cracks were certainly on their duty. The ball hit the crack and seemed inside, leaving the Cook confused and making him place the face of the bat in the wrong direction.

5. That pitched outside off right?

Once again, Shane Warne is in our list. This was the best delivery by Warne in his whole career as for me, ofcourse after the ball of the century. The ball was pitched outside off and the batsman, Andrew Strauss, shouldered arms to it, thinking that it won’t spin much. But it certainly did, the ball spinned to a very great extent and went on to hit the leg stump. Now, can you imagine that? A ball pitching outside off and going on to hit the leg stump. That was certainly a 'dream delivery' for any spinner.

6. Nose or Toes

The current in-swinging yorker specialist, Mitchell Starc provided the Aussies, a much needed wicket by bowling a dreadful in-swinging yorker to Grant Elliot in the World Cup 2015. The ball came like a 'hurricane' and totally destroyed the stumps. Elliot was lucky enough not to break his toe there. This delivery will forever be remembered by Elliot as it could hava kept a hold on his career for long time.

7. Debut with a dream delivery.

Oh boy! What a debut did this young lad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, made in T-20Is for India. What a swinging delivery it was! Seemed like he was challenging Warne for the amount of deviation that the ball makes after being let out of the hand. It was pitched well outside off and Hafeez shouldered arms to that one. It was surely a bad idea to shoulder arms as it went on to hit the top of the off stump. It was awe-inspiring delivery in an all-important match between the rivals India and Pakistan.

8. Jimmy leaves Braithwaite in awe.

Oh yeah! This is certainly my personal favourite. How can one miss James Anderson when we talk about the greatest bowlers? He is the 'King of Swing' and one of the greatest fast bowlers that cricket has and will ever produce. The leading Test wicket taker of England, proved his worth here by this astonishing delivery. It swung too much and hit the stumps. He left Braithwaite 'high and dry', after this delivery.
