The scenario was ambigious. It was a completely new format with doubts of the sustainability.
A new Captain, with a young team. Unexpected performer with the ball, a hero with the bat and a strategic mind behind the stumps, all that needed to gift India the inaugral World t20 competition, moreover a pricless gem in the form of MS Dhoni. It's been 8 years since it all happened. Revive the best moments.

September 24, 2007, at The Wanderers in Johannesburg, India beat Pakistan by five runs to win the their maiden World Twenty20. Gautam Gambhir was the star with the bat for India, hitting 75 off 54 balls to get the total to 157 for 5. Umar Gul took 3 for 28 and was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan.
Pakistan needed 13 to win off the last six balls, when skipper MS Dhoni handed the ball to Joginder Sharma, which led to raised eyebrows. The first ball was a wide which was followed with the dot; the second legal delivery was a full toss which Misbah put away for six.
What happened next is still fresh in the memory of every Indian fan - Misbah walked across his stumps off the third ball to paddle Joginder to fine leg, but only managed to miscue the shot and find S Sreesanth at short fine-leg. The second Sreesanth took the catch, Indian fans in the stadium exploded and at the same time it was agony for Pakistani supporters.
Irfan, who scalped three wickets, was adjudged Man of the Match.
