Alastair Cook: An epitome of endurance


It is rightly said:
“It doesn’t matter how hard you do hit, the more important thing is that how hard do you get hit and still continue walking” 
Well this England Captain is no contradiction to this saying. His recent epic knock at Abu Dhabi was a signal to the critics that soon they’ll need another subject of criticism. He proved that he’s been one of the most efficient successors for his country. Here are some reasons why Alastair Cook has been a valuable player for England-

Leads by an example




When we talk about one of the best leaders in cricket, we talk about Ponting, Dhoni, Ganguly, Flemming etc. Perhaps Cook isn’t the one usually talked for his leadership skills by critics; his teammates surely value him a lot as a leader. Ian Bell went to record and lauded Cook stating

“He is a brilliant leader”. A leader is perhaps the one who unites the team together and history has witnessed that Cook has followed these lines as profoundly as any English Captain has ever done.

The A-listed batsman

Well, many cricketers have commented about Cook referring him as a stubborn person, but that’s what you need when you’re an opening batsman. He’s certainly a typical English Batsman with a perfect batting technique and defence strategy. But the quality that makes him an A-lister is his defence against the spin. A test player, hence.

Survival of the fittest

But what sustains a cricketer’s career at this age is his physical fitness.bAlastair Cook is someone who is an epitome of fitness. This is what makes him perform so effortlessly and unexpectedly refreshing. One thing is sure that he’s not gonna slog for retirement due to some really bad injuries in the near future. This same physical fitness helped him survive for 836 minutes under the scorching heat of Abu Dhabi.

An attacking mindset

Not known as one of the most aggressive batsman England has ever produced, this captain has a lot of fire and fury down his head. Well that’s what carries him so firmly. He’s proved with his captaincy skills that he can attack a batsman’s mind by setting the corresponding fielding or the bowling attack which is really useful when you know that your country is known for orthodox method cricketing.

Redefining History

Well it would be some great amount of injustice to Cook if his knock at Abu Dhabi wasn’t mentioned separately. Playing an 836 minute long innings leaving the bowlers in a delirious state, this batsman has certainly etched his name on the history of Cricket. A fighting 263 is what he could serve to please his team and shut down the critics and of course he made it look effortless. This knock was certainly appreciated by a number of great cricketers and his teammates too.

Certainly this man has proved that tough times pass but tough men don’t. Though he faced a lot of criticism for his inconsistency, it was never too late for cook to show what he could do.
