The World T20 that takes place every 2 years has also witnessed some breathtaking innings and knocks which are written in history of this game in golden letters. As the T-20 world cup approaching we take a look at some astonishing knocks of batsmen in T-20 World Cup.

Mike Hussey- 60 (24) vs Pakistan.

Mike Hussey unleashed his army of shots against Saeed Ajmal in the last over in the semi final match against Pakistan. 9 wickets were down and Hussey was still batting when Australia needed 18 runs off the last over. The ball was in the hands of Saeed Ajmal. Any other batsman probably would not think about victory at this point but Mr. Cricket had the target to win this match for his team. He scored three monstrous sixes and one four against the spin wizard Ajmal. This surely was one of the best innings in T-20 world cup.

Yuvraj Singh  58 (16) vs England

The 2007 T-20 world cup is very special for every Indian cricket follower for many reasons. One of the reasons was Yuvraj's six sixes in one over off Stuart Broad. It was for the first time in T-20 internationals that a player had scored six sixes in a single over. Yuvraj was certainly unstoppable that day as he notched up his fifty in just 12 deliveries. Mind blowing stuff!. This was certainly a big stride by Indians in the shortest format of the game.

It was the innings versus Australia in the semi final that Yuvi played which helped India score a mammoth 188 and eventually beat Australians to reach the finals. Yuvraj played a blinder for India scoring 70 off just 30 balls. He hit 5 fours and 5 sixes to set up a huge target for the Aussies. Yuvraj's reputation of a deadly batsmen was catalysed by this blazing innings.

Chris Gayle -117(57) vs South Africa

You all must be wondering exactly when did Chris Gayle started to feast on that huge sixes in the shortest format of the game it dates back to 11th September 2007. It was the first match of the first T20 world cup and it already had blistering start thanks to Gayle's hundred. He smashed 7 fours and 10 sixes against the South African attack. Although WI had posted 205 on board South Africa chased it down to win the first match of the T20 world cup.

Suresh Raina  -101(60) vs South Africa

Raina became the first Indian and the third player to record a hundred in T20 world cup. This match was played against South Africa at St. Lucia. This smashing innings was decorated with 9 fours and 5 sixes. Due to this whirlwind innings India notched up a victory against SA as they defeated them by 14 runs. This man really made a permanent mark in world cricket due to this innings.

Alex Hales -116 off 64 balls vs Sri Lanka

In this super eight group match Alex Hales registered a mind blowing counter attacking century against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka had set a imposing target of 190 and undoubtedly chasing a big target would be a tricky one. But thanks to Alex Hales England won the  match in 19.2 overs. His innings was studded with 11 fours and 6 sixes.


Virat Kohli -72 (44 ) vs South Africa

In this high octane Semi Final India were chasing a formidable target of 173 vs a very good bowling attack of South Africa. But no one can stop a champion to take the game away from you. Virat Kohli notched up a well paced innings that was studded with 5 fours and 2 maximums.

Imran Nazir -72 (36) vs Bangladesh

Imran Nazir played a sublime and a breathtaking knock of 72 off just 36 balls against the Bangladeshis. Those who are wondering that it's not a great thing to smack 72 runs against a bowling attack which wasn't so strong at that time,let me remind you all that this match was very crucial for the Pakistan team and Nazir played this knock under pressure. That certainly was a good knock.

Marlon Samuels -78(56) vs Sri Lanka

West Indies won a major tournament of the ICC after a long time when they were crowned as the new kings of T20 world cup. Marlon Samuels had a lion's share in this triumph of West Indies. He made 78 off 56 deliveries on a pitch that was so slow that even a commentator told that 500 runs were too much on this wicket. He thwacked the bowlers and won this game single handedly.

Rohit Sharma -50 (40) vs South Africa

50 off 40 balls doesn't sound too pleasant to ears when we are talking about T20 matches but when the team is in need of it these runs are the saving grace of the team. Rohit Sharma played a mature innings against SA scoring an unbeaten fifty with 7 fours and 2 sixes. India were reeling at 81-4 and then MS Dhoni and Rohit stitched a wonderful partnership of 85 runs. Because of this partnership India managed to get 153 on board and eventually won the match.
